Glossary

Crime Rate
The number of crimes per 100,000 people in a given area.
Homicides
Homicide is the killing of one human being by another, including actions, omissions, or procurement that cause death.
Aggravated Assault
Aggravated assault is a serious crime involving the intentional infliction of serious bodily harm or the use of a weapon during an assault.
Non-Violent Crimes
Non-violent crimes are crimes that do not involve physical harm to another person, such as theft, fraud, or drug-related offenses.
Burglary
The unlawful entry into a building or structure with the intent to commit a crime, typically theft.
Larceny
The unlawful taking of personal property of another person with intent to permanently deprive the owner of it.
